Kara Grimm-Denholm (she/her) is a St. Louis based theatrical designer. She relocated from Chicago to St. Louis after completing a lighting design internship at Steppenwolf Theatre. Kara is a founding member of Brickworks Theatre and Cats Cradle Theatre. She is also serves as a member of the board at Intersect Arts Center in St. Louis.

Electrics Apprentice//Steppenwolf Theatre
August 2016 – May 2017, Chicago
Worked as a company electrician and board operator, taking a major role in the preparation, hang, focus, tech, run, and strike of six mainstage productions over the course of a theatrical season. This included any physical hardwiring of practical fixtures as well as addressing/patching a mixture of conventional and LED lighting instruments.

Acted as either Lighting Designer or assistant designer for four mainstage productions every season as well as a variety of smaller student projects and award shows. Oversaw the maintenance and rentals of all lighting equipment over the course of the year.
